This page provides an overview of the materials produced in cooperation between Moldovan and German environmental organisations and information about the CapaMol project.
The project „Capacity building for the strategic promotion of young professionals in the environmental sector in the Republic of Moldova” conducted by the Independent Institute for Environmental Issues (UfU) aims to strategically improve the development of organizations and the necessary promotion of young professionals in the environmental sector in the Republic of Moldova.
This network website supports Moldovan environmental NGOs in making their project work, experiences and achievements visible and accessible to the public as well as to potential partners and supporters.
For the first time, this website brings together this country-specific information and therefore will enhance the perception of the environmental NGO sector of the Republic of Moldova especially towards international partners.
The Independent Institute for Environmental Issues (UfU) is both a scientific and officially recognized non-governmental organization that consists of four departments:
Approximately 35 empolyees are currently working at UfU. In addition, there are regular cooperations with freelance collaborators. The main office of the institute is in Berlin, Germany.
We at UfU are rooted in the traditions of the civil rights movements of the GDR. As a result we regard ourselves as an independent and critical institution; its role being that of an initiator, mediator and moderator; its independence secured by a variety of subsidies and employers.
UfU actively supports and implements social innovations in order to achieve its vision of a lasting sustainable society by actively working together with political parties, the economy, and civil society. It aspires to bridge the gap between knowledge and action by initiating and supervising scientific projects, educational activities and networks. All the while the institute also strengthens the eco-political engagement of the citizens through spreading information and consultations. The projects take place on a local, regional, national and international scale, engaging with networks on all levels.
We are mainly working on research assignments and model projects financed by federal ministries, federal states and municipalities as well as foundations. In addition to our scientific activities, we initiate and engage in local and international projects and networks.
UfU regularly publishes the results of its work as studies, proceedings, educational material and handbooks as well as in papers and journals.
This project is funded by the German Federal Environment Ministry’s Advisory Assistance Programme (AAP) for environmental protection in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia and other countries neighbouring the European Union. It is supervised by the German Environment Agency (UBA).
